
Rev. James T. Connelly, C.S.C.
Rev. James Connelly, C.S.C., received both his B.A. (1960) and M.A. (1968) in history from Notre Dame. He also received an S.T.B (1963) from Gregorian University and a Ph.D. (1977) from the University of Chicago in the History of Christianity. He has taught at many institutions, including King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA (1972-76); Alokolum National Seminary, Gulu, Uganda (1977-1980); and the University of Portland, Portland, OR, (1993-2009). He has served as an archivist for the Indiana Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross (1980-1993) and for the Congregation of Holy Cross (2005-2020). He also served as Religious Superior at Holy Cross House (2009-2015). Father Connelly edited for publication Father Edward Sorin's The Chronicles of Notre Dame du Lac (Notre Dame Press, 1992), and is the author of The University of Portland: A Century of Teaching, Faith and Service (U.P. Press, 2001) and Basil Moreau and the Congregation of Holy Cross (Portland: Garaventa Center, 2007) and other publications. Father Connelly's latest book, A History of the Congregation of Holy Cross, will be published by the UND Press in December of 2020.
