Rev. Peter Rocca, C.S.C., serves as the Rector of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. He was ordained a priest of Holy Cross in 1974. After earning advanced degrees in Liturgical Studies and Liturgical Music (1977-1980), he has served as Director of Liturgy at Moreau Seminary as well as assists on the formation staff. After serving as Assistant Vice President for Student Services for twelve years at Notre Dame, he was appointed (1997-present) Rector of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Father Peter also teaches classes in the M.Div. program and serves as Chaplain for Notre Dame R.O.T.C. students. He also serves as General Editor of the Ordo, an annual publication of Paulist Press, a liturgical guide for the celebration of Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours. He is a consultant for the Bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship and edits each year the liturgical calendar for the United States. He serves as the Director of Liturgy for the United States Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
