Br. Jacob Gorman serves as the rector of Carroll Hall at the University of Notre Dame. Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, he first encountered the Congregation of Holy Cross in high school while on a campus visit to Notre Dame. After getting to know the religious community, Br. Jacob entered Old College, the Congregation’s undergraduate seminary, and graduated from Notre Dame in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology. Following a year in Colorado Springs, he professed his first vows with Holy Cross and began his theology studies. During that time, Br. Jacob worked closely with Campus Ministry, taught English in Bangladesh, worked as a middle school math teacher in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and served as Assistant Rector in Dunne Hall. Br. Jacob graduated with his master of divinity in May 2025, and is preparing to take his final vows in August 2026.
