Rev. Mark Thesing is the Director of the Notre Dame-Newman Centre for Faith and Reason in Dublin, Ireland. The center evangelizes the young adult population of the Dublin City Centre area through lectures and presentations, and well-crafted liturgical experiences.

Fr. Thesing entered the seminary as a freshman at Notre Dame, majoring in mathematics. After earning his B.S. in 1981 and his M.Div. in 1985, both from Notre Dame, he was ordained April 5, 1986. His first assignment was teaching high school math and computer programming at Notre Dame High School in Niles, Illinois. He also earned his M.B.A. at Notre Dame in 1992 and pursued Ph.D. studies in Strategic Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served the province three times as Provincial Steward and most recently as Administrator of Holy Cross House. His assignments at Notre Dame have included rector of Keenan Hall, Director of Finance and Operations for Student Affairs, and Director of Finance and Administration for the Mendoza College of Business. Additional responsibilities have included chaplain for basketball, football, and Risk Management along with parish assistance on the weekends. During free time he enjoys photography, cooking, family gatherings and trips back to Florida.

Fr. Mark credits his parents’ faith and example for his vocation. The fourth of five children, he grew up in a close and loving family with faith and the Catholic Church at the core. His experiences and the values he received provide a strong foundation for his understanding of God’s love and mercy and inspire him in his preaching and teaching.
