Fr. Matthew, originally from Miami, FL, was ordained to the priesthood in April of 2016. Beginning in August of 2016, Fr. Matthew served as the rector of Zahm, one of Notre Dame's undergraduate residences for men. During his time as the rector of Zahm, Fr. Matthew worked in Campus Ministry as a sacramental preparation chaplain, with the McGrath Institute's ND Vision, the University Marching Band, and assisted in a pilot program for teaching theology in the residence halls. Beginning in the fall of 2019, he moved to Leuven, Belgium, where he earned his Research Master of Theology and STL (2020), and his PhD and STD in Theology (2024). During his time in Belgium, Fr. Matthew was the chaplain for the American College, and assisted at St. Kwinten Parish. His research primarily focuses upon theological anthropology, the consecrated life, and iconography. Fr. Matthew currently is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Theology at Notre Dame, and the Associate Director of Sacramental Formation for the Master of Divinity Program. Additionally, he serves on the Formation Staff at Moreau Seminary and Scholasticate.
